Online learning is still in its infancy. During its short existence it has developed rapidly as a viable means of learning in terms of coverage, convenience, penetration and of course, technology. However, like anything, there's always room for improvement. Below we set out our philosophy on what we are trying to create and how we think our product can be used best. Being very team and customer focused, we're always very pleased to hear what you think as well. So let us know, and in the meantime, happy learning!
Goals and Objectives
We want you to be able to take what you have learnt on our courses back to your organisation and apply it to your daily role. As such, our courses are short and factual and, where possible, illustrated by examples and graphics.
Reasons for undertaking an online course can be many and varied. The requirement to learn a new skill or technique, or having a personal interest in a topic can be powerful motivators. However, it's good to identify and set out some goals before you start. What do you want to take away with you? How would you measure your success and progress?
Before embarking on an online course we recommend identifying some clear and realistic objectives about how the course is going to help you. For example, this could be to successfully complete the modules within a certain time frame, or to jot down ten bullet points per module for review later, or to map out a checklist or new process for a task you undertake at work, or develop an idea for a product or team meeting using the knowledge you've gained during the course. There are many ways to take value and benefit away fom an online course, and that doesn't need to be limited to a pass mark and a certificate.
Self-Paced and Self-Guided
Through our flexible, super stable, secure and user-friendly
Learning Management System (LMS) that allows access from almost anywhere via
PC, tablet or mobile device, you are able to personalize your online learning experience. Utilize your user dashboard to see what's new and interesting, and to effectively monitor your self-development. Our platform lays out a learning path that enables self-paced progress through courses and gives users complete control over the pace of learning.
A little later, we will be adding a community function that will facilitate discussion and interaction between users. We believe that sharing ideas with like-minded people is a powerful motivator to continuous learning.
Assess and Review
We all know that assessment and review is useful and constructive when done in a meaningful way. So we've included assessment in our courses, in a number of forms.
We start with a short, informal pre-course quiz to get your grey cells buzzing. You can take this without paying us a penny - it's free. Perhaps you'll get all these questions completely correct, or maybe the quiz will demonstrate where knowledge gaps could be filled. In any case, we think it's a useful exercise.
Next, we offer short multiple choice or 'true or false' quizzes at the end of each module. Typically each course consists of five modules. These quizzes are for feedback only and there's no pass or fail. Instead, after every question you'll be told if it was correct or otherwise, often with some feedback if you answered incorrectly. These quizzes are intended to allow you to review the material contained in each module - did you fully absorb it, or could you benefit from a review of the module?
Last but not least, we offer a certification examination at the conclusion of each course. It's advised to complete all the modules before you attempt this. The certification examination consists of between 25 and 30 multiple choice and 'true or false' type questions and there will be a time limit. Each certification examination has a specified pass mark and you will be notified of your score immediately. Pass the exam and you can download the certificate of merit. Don't pass the exam and....well, you can always sit it again.
Learn and Enjoy
Last but not least, Enjoy! Learning is fun and stimulating and online learning should be no exception. We hope you enjoy our courses, benefit from them and take away some meaningful experiences. Learn, absorb, review, use. Repeat.
